Session Proposal Guidance

Submissions should describe all proposed content and provide a rationale for why this content is of interest to CCORC attendees. Below are examples of acceptable session proposal types, but other session formats will be considered by the scientific program committee. All session proposals are limited to one hour in duration.

Workshops

Proposals for workshops must include between 1 and 6 speakers. Proposals for workshops or trainings must describe the target audience in addition to the activities and/or content delivered during the proposed session. Rationale supporting this session’s benefit to CCORC attendees must be described. Examples of workshops/trainings that have specifically been requested by previous attendees of CCORC include:

  • Training in the use of measurement instruments or tools to assess cannabis use behaviors and outcomes
  • Symptom assessment instruments or tools for use by clinicians
  • Demonstration of databases that are available to researchers
  • Training workshops for developing clinical trials with cannabis
  • Giving practical advice to patients

Learning objectives for a workshop/training are required, see guidance here.

Symposia

Proposals for symposia must include between 1 and 6 speakers. Proposals for symposia (sessions that communicate research findings) should be structured as one or more abstracts and present original research findings. Presenters may refer to abstracts that were also submitted for poster and podium consideration and describe how they will be thematically organized and presented. Examples of topics that have specifically been requested by previous attendees of CCORC include:

  • Clinical research, especially on diseases associated with inflammation
  • THC use during pregnancy
  • Research on the effects of specific products

Forums

Proposals for forums must include between 2 and 6 discussants or speakers. Forums may be structured as panel discussions or as a series of presentations that cover topics of interest beyond original research findings. For example, topics related to addressing regulatory challenges in conducting cannabis research, identifying funding opportunities for conducting cannabis research, or discussions of clinical challenges in treating patient populations that use cannabis. Examples of content that has specifically been requested by previous attendees of CCORC include:

  • Clinical guidelines or expert opinion for cannabis dosing
  • Impact of policy changes
  • Industry involvement and perspective
